I've been teaching English for more than 14 years across many different institutions, language schools, and companies. Currently, I am studying in Toulouse, France, to become a teacher of Spanish.
This is Alonso Poblete, a teacher of English graduated from USACH in 2010, and I also have a master's degree in linguistics from the same university in 2015. I have more than 13 years of experience teaching English, and I have had diverse students: in language schools, schools, business English in office and tertiary education. I am also an advocate of LGBT+ and Human Rights. I volunteered in "Fundación Iguales" for 4 years, and I have given speeches to raise awareness, planned and conducted workshops, participated in round tables, and led teams.
Most of the classes I have taught are private business-oriented, so I can adapt and tailor them to suit my students' needs. I think developing the four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) is what most students want. However, most students need to develop listening and speaking much more. I believe authentic materials are key in teaching intermediate and advanced levels, especially on listening. Also, I think exposing students to different accents and critical thinking activities is what makes them understand the wide diversity of the English language.
